Sandra Lea (Sandy) Humphrey Caylor, 72, of Lanett, Alabama passed away on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at home surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on July 21, 1953 in Langdale, Alabama to the late James Thomas (J. T.) and Sheila Humphrey.
She is survived by her husband, Oscar C. Caylor; son, Dustin R. Smith; grandsons, Peyton Smith and Nolan Smith; Sister, Cathy (Bill) Smoke; cousin, Jeri (Marie Kostick) Brown; sister-in-law, Mollye Caylor; nieces, Sabrina Smoke, Kimberly Caylor, Kenzie Caylor; nephew, Kole Caylor; and a host of cousins, long time family friends and other loved ones.
She owned and ran Sandy’s Upholstery in Hughley for over 40 years. Later, she accepted the position of teacher when she went to work as the upholstery instructor at J. F. Ingram in Deatsville. She worked as a full time instructor and self-employed upholsterer until her retirement in 2021. She was honored to be selected teacher of the year for J. F. Ingram in Post Secondary Adult Education.
She loved spending time at the beach but her happy place was sitting in her swing on the porch at their home on Lake Martin. She loved spending time with her family but the absolute lights of her life were her grandsons.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her aunt, Bobbie Brown; uncle, Jeri Brown; and nephew, Eric Smoke.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday December 13, 2025. Visitation will begin at 1:30 pm EST and the Celebration will begin at 2:30 pm EST, both in the Chapel at Johnson Brown Funeral Home, 3700 20th Avenue, Valley, Alabama 36854. The family would like everyone to dress in casual attire.
The family is requesting no flowers but memorials or donations be made to Chattahoochee Humane Society in Valley, Alabama.
