November 24, 1953 ~ December 4, 2025 (age 72)

Carla Otto, 72, was born on November 24, 1953, and peacefully passed away on December 4, 2025, in her home surrounded by her loving family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Sr. and Willie Mae Bartmess; in-laws, Dr. Charles S. Otto and Ruth Otto; and brothers-in-law, Bill and Bob Otto.

Carla is survived by her loving husband, John Otto, and her children, Trina Ankney and husband, Jeff, Shawn Blake and wife, Nicole, Jason Otto and wife, Crystal, Allison Bassett and husband, Jamie, Katie Bannister and husband, Brad, Krystle Newton and husband, Greg.

She was “MawMaw” to Savannah, Kristen, Cheyenne, Destiny, Gage, Zack, Hattie, Gracie, Shelby, Bryant, Lilly, Nate, Lucy, Brady, and several great-grandchildren who adored her deeply.

Carla is also survived by her siblings: Jeannie Davidson and partner, Daniel, Joseph Bartmess and wife, Becky, Clara Williams and husband, Joey, Juana Brunson and husband, Gerald, Charlotte Simmons and husband, Bennett, Willie Bartmess, Charles Otto, III, and wife, Linda, Marilyn Russell and husband Drew

Her beloved fur baby, Mazie Grace, was her constant companion and her world.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Connie Hunt for her loving care and support and her best friend Blanca Guzman.

Carla was a therapist in a mental health youth facility, a dental technician, a published poet, and an artist.

Funeral will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. at Langdale Methodist in Valley, Alabama. A graveside service will be held in West Monroe, Louisiana at a later date.
