On 07/21/2025, at approximately 3:00 p.m., the Opelika Police Department and the Lee County SWAT Team executed a search warrant in the 1400 Block of Crawford Road.
At the location, 28-year-old Mykiel Sanchez Holmes was arrested on a warrant for Attempted Murder. The arrest warrant stems from the shooting of a 31-year-old male, which occurred at the Grub Mart on 07/20/2025. The investigation revealed Holmes and the victim were acquaintances and had a previous altercation. The victim remains in critical but stable condition at Piedmont Columbus Regional Hospital in Columbus, GA. Holmes was booked into the Lee County Jail.
