November 19, 1945 ~ June 27, 2025 (age 79)

We gather to celebrate the life of Joe Walker, a cherished family man, devoted friend, and respected veteran, who passed away on June 27, 2025, in Port St. Joe, Florida. Born on November 19, 1945, in Valley, Alabama, Joe’s journey was marked by his intelligence, generosity, and an endearing sense of humor that brought light to many.

Joe served with honor in the US Army, embodying the values of duty and commitment. After his military service, he continued to contribute to the community through his work as a diligent truck driver and later as a dedicated security guard. His work ethic was unparalleled, and through his various roles, Joe forged lasting connections with those he worked alongside.

An individual of profound faith, Joe was a member of the Assembly of God church, where he found great solace and strength. His religious conviction guided him through life and shaped the kind and friendly spirit he was known for.

It was Joe’s love for his family that truly defined him. He is survived by his loving daughters, Mechelle Mouriski, married to Gary, and Tonya Clark, married to Eric. He was the proud grandfather to Kristian Whisnand, Katie Guess, and Lauryn Prickett. His role expanded joyfully as he became a great grandfather to Rowan, Naomi, Lincoln, Emelia, and Collins, whose endeavors and smiles were the highlights of his days. Joe’s legacy also lives on through his sisters, Brenda Walker and JoAnn Burt, and several nieces and nephews, who all carry cherished memories of him. His family background instilled in him the values he held dear and lived by every single day.

Before his own passing, Joe felt the sorrow of farewells, preceded in death by his father, John Lewis Walker, his beloved mother, Doris Walker, his brother Billy Walker, sister Dorothy Walker, and his nephews Tommy and Stephen Walker.

An avid University of Alabama fan, Joe rarely missed a game, his passion for the sport only matched by his love for the great outdoors. Friends and family will remember his warmth during gatherings, how he thrived on the laughter of his grandchildren, the twinkle in his eye when sharing a joke, and his remarkable ability to brighten a room.

Today, as we reflect on the life of Joe Walker, we celebrate a man who was not only intelligent and friendly but who also exemplified a life well-lived, surrounded by those he held dearest. His kindness and vibrancy will be profoundly missed, yet his spirit endures in the hearts of those who loved him. Joe Walker’s life story is one of dedication, joy, and enduring affection—a narrative that will be recounted with fondness for generations to come.

Funeral services for Joe will be held on Wednesday, July 2nd, 2025, at 11:00 AM (EDT) at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley. Interment will follow in Fairfax Cemetery.
