April 21, 1945 ~ April 16, 2025 (age 79)

It is with a heart filled with fond memories and deep appreciation that we announce the passing of James Hollis Kelley, fondly known as Hollis to his friends and family. Hollis was born on April 21, 1945, and he peacefully departed this life on April 16, 2025, in Valley, surrounded by the love of his family.

His vibrant spirit and infectious laughter left a mark on all who knew him, and he will be dearly missed. Hollis was a devoted family man, who cherished every moment spent with his beloved wife, Donna Jean Kelley, and his sons, Hollis Kelley (married to Eva) and Chris Kelley, plus a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Although he was preceded in death by his parents, J.C. and Gertrude Kelley, and his sister, Jane McCain, his legacy of love and laughter continues to thrive within his family.

A lifelong learner, Hollis earned his Master’s Degree and applied his knowledge and skills as a Surgical Technician, a role in which he demonstrated both precision and compassion.

Hollis’s faith was an integral part of his life, and he was an active and beloved member of Freedom Church in Lanett, Alabama. His faith was not only a source of personal strength but also an inspiration to others in his community.

In addition to his spiritual devotion, he was an ardent supporter of Alabama football, which he enjoyed both as a pastime and a way to connect with fellow fans.

As we bid farewell to James Hollis Kelley, we celebrate a life lived with joy, guided by faith, and adorned with the love of family. His memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of those who loved him.
