Faye Rutland, a cherished light in the lives of all who knew her, passed away peacefully at the West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange, Georgia, on April 16, 2025, at the age of 84. She was a source of love and devotion, born on December 5, 1940, in LaFayette, Alabama, and remained a person of unwavering warmth throughout her life.

Faye, known for her radiant smile and kind heart, devoted her life to her family and brought joy to every gathering with her famous biscuits. She is lovingly remembered by her children: Danny Eugene Rutland, Donna Simmons (Greg), Rhonda Morris (Dwayne), Donald “BoBo” Rutland, and Ronald “Sleepy” Rutland. Her legacy continues through her adoring grandchildren: Jason Rutland (Amanda), Lindsey Rutland Brown (Drew), Anthony Simmons, Codi Simmons, Bradley Morris, Brooke Manning (Jeremy), Russell Rutland, Reagan Rutland (Nathan Bell), Peyton Rutland (Caitlyn), and Leah Rutland, as well as her cherished great-grandchildren: Carter Brown, Holland Brown, Miley Simmons, Chloey Simmons, Mason Simmons, Emily Morris, Remington Manning, Mackenzie Manning, Emma Manning, Grayson Bell, Rae Lynn Rutland, and Jaxon Higgins. Faye was a beloved sister to Peggy Ann White and sister-in-law to Joyce Estes. Her benevolent spirit will be unforgotten by a multitude of family members, friends, and all who were blessed to encounter her kindness.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Alfred Eugene Rutland; her parents, Robert and Lessie Ozley; and sisters, Marie Hurst, Modine Price, Betty Jo Folds, Elaine Davis, and Debra Smith.

Her life was marked by a profound love for her family, which was her greatest pride and joy. A testament to her nurturing soul, Faye radiated love and care, always placing the needs of others before her own. Her unwavering support, especially as a loving mother and grandmother, became the cornerstone of her family’s strength and unity.

An ardent University of Alabama fan, Faye’s enthusiasm for football was matched by her love for the mountains and the occasional thrill of the casino. Her thoughtful, loving nature, and her eagerness to embrace life’s simple pleasures will be deeply missed by those who knew her.

Faye’s indelible impact upon the fabric of her community and her family leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and priceless memories—a legacy that will be honored, celebrated, and forever treasured. Her journey through life was filled with compassion, kindness, and thoughtfulness—a true testament to the extraordinary woman she was.

Funeral services for Faye will be held on Saturday, April 19th, 2025, at 2:00 PM (EDT) at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley. Interment will follow in Marseilles Cemetery in West Point, Georgia. Pastor Joel Scott will officiate. Faye’s family will receive friends Saturday afternoon at the funeral home from 1:00 PM (EDT) until the service hour.
