The Southern Union Lady Bison softball team has earned a coveted spot in the 2025 NJCAA Division I Softball World Series after a commanding run through the Region 22 Division I Tournament. With an impressive 8-2 victory over Coastal South on Saturday, Southern Union clinched the regional championship and punched their ticket to the national stage in Yuma, Arizona. The World Series is set to begin on May 19.

This postseason triumph caps a stellar 2025 campaign for the team, which posted a 42-13 overall record (.764 winning percentage), including a strong 23-9 mark (.719) in conference play. SU proved formidable across all venues, going 20-3 at home, 13-8 on the road, and 9-2 in neutral-site contests.

The team’s consistent performance and postseason resilience are a testament to their preparation and depth. With momentum on their side, SU now turns its attention to the national tournament, where they’ll face the best programs in the country.

“I am very proud of this team,” said acting Head Coach Brandon Cobb. “They have overcome so much adversity and have been able to keep it all together and finish strong by winning the conference championship. We are ready to go make some noise at the World Series in Yuma. We aren’t finished yet!”

The official World Series bracket and first-round matchups will be revealed on Tuesday, May 13, at 4:00 p.m. ET.
