Sarah Helen McEachern Harrison, a lover of life, people, and adventure, left us peacefully on March 6, 2025. She was currently living in Midlothian, Virginia.

Sarah was born in Tillers Crossroads, Alabama, on August 25, 1921. She was the daughter of Julia and Albert McEachern and the sister to George, Roy, Craton, Johnson, Evelyn, Edith, and Nancy. She worked as a secretary in many various fields. She worked for churches, a carpet manufacturer, an architect, and schools. She spent the end of her career working in the history department and nursing school at Valdosta State College (now University). She loved working with the students and still had one student who has been her dear friend and kept in touch until the end. She typed several manuscripts for professors who had books published. She loved volunteering at the Southern Baptist International Mission Board. She loved to quilt, help others, and enjoy the outdoors.

Sarah married Walter W. Harrison on June 20, 1942 and they were married for 63 years when he passed away. They had one child and two grandchildren.

Sarah is survived by her daughter Ann Eynon (Ralph) and her grandchildren Sarah Eynon and Laura Eynon-Way (Elizabeth).

A service to celebrate Sarah’s life will be held on March 22 at 2:00 pm at Sycamore Presbyterian Church, 510 Coalfield Road, Midlothian, VA 23114. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at 2 pm. Oakwood Cemetery in Lanett, AL. Details will be available later. Instead of flowers, a donation can be made to The Gideons International, a local hospice company, or your church in her honor.
