1-85 Exit 64 Traffic Fatality Claims Life of Teen

On 01/10/2024, at approximately 3:40 a.m., Opelika Dispatch received several calls regarding a vehicle crash on Interstate 85 South near Exit 64. Responding officers located a vehicle in a ditch with two occupants.

The 19-year-old passenger was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver was transported to Piedmont Columbus Regional Hospital in Columbus, GA.

Investigators are able to confirm that weather was not a contributing factor in this crash. The incident remains under investigation by the Opelika Police Traffic Homicide Investigation Unit.
