A Beulah teen, Jalen Dashawn Holmes is in custody and faces Capital Murder charges following a Christmas Eve. double homicide that has claimed the lives of two teenage girls.

“This afternoon at approximately 3:48 pm CST., the Lee CountySheriff’s Office 911 Center received a call reporting gunfire in the vicinity of Lee Road 2113 and US 29 North in the Beulah community of northeast Lee County. Responding deputies were directed to a residence in the 100 block of Lee Road 2113.

Upon entry, deputies encountered an 18-year-old male and discovered two (2) females, ages 18 and 19 years old. The two females had suffered what appeared to be gunshot wounds and were unresponsive”, said the Lee County Sheriff’s Department in a press release.

Lee County Coroner Daniel Sexton pronounced the two females deceased at the scene. Sexton identified the deceased victims as 18-year-old Madison Daly and 19-year-old Kayden Lynch. “Though not related, both victims listed their driver’s license address as the residence where the shooting took place,” the sheriff’s office said.

Investigators say the male had reportedly assaulted his mother, who lives next door to the residence where the victims were discovered, and had taken a handgun from the mother’s residence. “Witnesses reported hearing several gunshots shortly before the 911 call was received by the Sheriff’s Office,” they added. “Evidence indicates that after assaulting his mother, he left her residence and went to the next-door residence where the victims were found. Two 9-year-old twin females had been at the residence but left just prior to the shooting.”

Holmes was taken into custody and faces Capital Murder charges. According to jail docket information, he was charged with two counts of domestic violence, 1 count of attempted murder, and 2 counts of Capital Murder (two or more victims.

The deceased victims will be transported by the Lee County Coroners Office to ADFS Montgomery Medical for postmortem examination.
