June 22, 1944 ~ December 30, 2024 (age 80)

Jerry Joseph Rock, Jr., age 80, of the Lake Harding Community died peacefully, on December 30th, 2024, in Opelika, Alabama. Jerry Was born on June 22nd, 1944, in Morgan City, Louisiana to the late Nora Dell Rock and Jerry Joseph Rock, Sr.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Donna Sorrell Rock; children, Jerry Rock, III, Reginald J. Rock (Christie McVicker), Michelle Rock Liriano (Igone`), and Monique Rock Wiggins (Zeb); bonus children, Kelly Thompson Williams (Gator Kincaid) and Jake Thompson (Tori Beth); ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

As a native Cajun, Jerry loved being on the lake, riding on the pontoon boat, and in his early years, water skiing. He often said he had webs between his toes like a duck. That being said, Jerry was probably the only Cajun man that insisted on living on a lake but hated to fish or eat fish. He enjoyed watching westerns whether old or new and could watch some so many times he could recite parts of the script. Jerry was very patriotic and took great pride in serving in the U. S. Navy. He loved to bet with folks about football games between LSU and Auburn, since they were both Tigers.

Funeral services for Jerry will be held on Friday, January 3rd, 2025, at 3:00 PM (EST) at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley, Alabama. Pastor Keith Owens will officiate. Jerry’s family will receive friends Friday afternoon from 2:00 PM (EST) until the service hour at the funeral home.
