Robert Lee “Bob” Bills, Sr., a source of laughter and generosity in his community, passed away peacefully at his residence in West Point, Georgia on December 12, 2024, at the age of 88. Born in Rochester, Pennsylvania, on January 23, 1936, Bob’s life was marked by the deep love he shared with his family and the countless moments of joy he brought to those around him.
Bob is survived by Shirley M. Bills, his beloved wife of 66 years, who was the love of his life, and the proud father of Richard Bills (Kim), Robert Bills, Jr., Michael Bills (Amanda), Johnny Bills, and Shirley Peidrahita. He was a devoted grandfather to Ashley Owen (Daniel), Mallory Daugherty (Ian), Rick Bills, Jr., Cason Whitlock, Joey Smith, Austin Bills, Evan Peidrahita, Blake Peidrahita, Jesse Love (Blake), and Austin Love (Autumn), and a joyful great grandfather to fifteen great-grandchildren. His strong family legacy is also carried on by his brother, John A. Bills. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Nola M. and Andrew H. Bills, as well as two brothers and four sisters.
Throughout his life, Bob’s work was imbued with his innate sense of humor and his natural inclination to kindness. His infectious laughter and openhearted generosity made every encounter with him a memorable one.
A passionate aficionado of golf and an unwavering fan of the Georgia Bulldogs, Bob was often seen savoring a popsicle, sharing stories, and enjoying the simpler pleasures of life. His spirit of giving and his ability to find humor in every situation remain etched in the hearts of all who knew him.
Bob’s legacy is one of uninterrupted giving, ceaseless humor, and enduring kindness. These attributes, which so perfectly defined him, will continue to inspire and guide his family, friends, and all the lives he touched. He leaves behind a world brighter for his presence, and memories filled with warmth, laughter, and love.
Funeral services for Bob will be held on Sunday, December 15th, 2024, at 2:00 PM (EST) at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley. Interment will follow in Marseilles Cemetery in West Point. Bob’s family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 1:00 PM (EST) until the service hour at the funeral home.
