March 23, 1938 ~ December 7, 2024 (age 86)

William “Marlin” McCain, a cherished soul known for his heartfelt dedication to his family, passed away on December 7, 2024, at the gratifying age of 86.

Born to the gentle rolling hills of Clay County, Alabama, on March 23, 1938, Marlin’s life was a testament to the firm values of hard work, commitment, and the simple pleasures of life. Marlin was preceded in death by, his loving wife, Brenda McCain and sisters, Hazel Aaron and Adell Thrower. Marlin’s journey began as a bright-eyed Alabama boy who quickly demonstrated an inherent knack for fixing things and an affinity for Auburn football and the tranquility found by the lake.

His love for practical knowledge paved the path to becoming a Senior Maintenance Technician, where he devoted over 40 years of service at the esteemed West Point Mill. His talents were not only a career but a vocation, leaving a legacy of well-oiled machinery and a workforce better for his presence. Answering the call of duty,

Marlin proudly served in the United States Army for two years, embodying the virtues of honor and patriotism with every step. This chapter of his life was marked by the steadfast friendships he forged and the skills he honed, which would continue to benefit him throughout his lifetime.

The true essence of Marlin’s joy was found in the company of his beloved family. He is survived by his son, James McCain and his wife Denise, his daughter, Beth Pruitt and her husband Mark, his adoring grandchildren, Whitney Nelson married to Robb, Timothy Carnley, Landon McCain, Jody Pruitt and great granddaughter, Brianna Nelson. His sister, Jeanette Aaron also shares in the family’s legacy. And not to be forgotten, his special pup, Minnie Lee, who was his faithful companion to the end.

Funeral Services for Marlin will be held, 1:00 P.M.(EST) Tuesday, December 10, 2024, in the chapel of Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley, Alabama.

Interment will follow at Harmony Memorial Park in Lanett, Alabama.

Visitation will be held prior to the service,Tuesday, December 10, 2024 from 12:00 P.M. until 1:00 P.M. (EST) at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley, Alabama.

Those who were blessed to have known Marlin will fondly remember his exceptional ability to mend what was broken and to quietly uplift those around him. He was the embodiment of the word ‘handy,’ and this skill was only matched by the warmth and steadiness of his loving heart.

Marlin enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, and his happiest moments were spent by the lake, where the calm waters and rustling leaves spoke to the depth of his soul.

As the sunsets on Marlin’s earthly chapter, we celebrate a life lived with purpose, integrity, and a gentle touch of grace.

He leaves behind a legacy of love, cherished memories, and the comforting belief that he is now at peace by the eternal lake he so adored.
