On July 1, 2024, at 6:22 p.m., deputies with the Troup County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to Yellow Jacket Beach on West Point Lake regarding a possible drowning. While deputies were responding to the location, dispatch advised that the victim, a three year old child had been pulled from the water and CPR was in progress by citizens at the location.
When deputies and other first responders arrived on scene, they took over lifesaving measures of the child. The child was airlifted to an Atlanta area hospital where we understand is still receiving treatment. This appears to be a tragic accident.
