Opelika man killed in Chambers County shooting; suspect charged with murder

On Friday, October 2nd, at 1:48 p.m., Chambers County deputies were dispatched to the 1000 block of County Road 26 in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, deputies found a male suffering from a gunshot wound and unresponsive. He was transported to East Alabama Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

The deceased was identified as Douglas Quentez Griffin, 35 of Opelika. A short time later, deputies took the suspect into custody nearby. Investigators arrested Queston Vantavis Perry, 40 of Opelika and charged him with Murder.

Perry is being held at Chambers County Detention Facility with no bond. This case remains under investigation by Chambers County Sheriff’s Office and the Fifth Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office.
