LEE COUNTY — The Lee County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday that a deputy was dismissed last week after an internal audit found violations of agency policies governing the use of information from the Flock camera system.
The sheriff’s office said it developed and implemented guidelines several years ago restricting the use of automated license plate reader information to legitimate law enforcement purposes. The guidelines apply to Flock camera systems, the agency said.
“The deputy’s dismissal is an example of our commitment and previously stated public position to hold personnel accountable for violations of policies in place to protect the public,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement.
