During Monday’s Lee County Commission meeting, Kevin Robinson, Vice President for Institutional Compliance and Security at Auburn University, discussed the benefits of the partnership with Lee County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) and how it has positively impacted the university.

“Auburn University has had a long-standing relationship with Lee County EMA. About six months ago, we experienced some changes in personnel at Auburn, which created a need for assistance. I approached Lee County EMA Director Rita Smith for help, and we entered into an arrangement to provide additional support for our emergency management operations,” said Robinson.

Robinson elaborated on the value of this partnership for Auburn, highlighting various areas such as athletics and graduations. “These events required extensive coordination, and Lee County was one of our critical partners. We had federal, state, local, and university representatives all working together, and without Lee County EMA, we couldn’t have accomplished that,” he explained.

Robinson emphasized that the partnership is mutually beneficial, stating, “This collaboration not only helps Auburn University but also supports the county. It contributes to making the cities of Auburn, Opelika, and Lee County attractive places to live, which is due in large part to the excellent leadership from organizations like Lee County EMA.”
