OPELIKA, Ala. – Special agents with the Alabama Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC) Board contacted the Opelika Police Department regarding complaints of illegal operations of several vape and CBD businesses in Opelika.
An investigation into the allegations was subsequently launched with the assistance of the Alabama State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) Narcotics, the ABC Board, and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA). Through the course of the joint investigation, authorities conducted a search warrant and inspections on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at the following Opelika businesses:
Top Shelf Alternatives, located at 510 Geneva Street.
Mr. Smoke, located at 2352 Pepperell Parkway.
101 Smoke Shops, located at 1467 Fox Run Parkway, 2808 Pepperell Parkway, and 3051 Frederick Road.
During the execution of the search warrant at Top Shelf Alternatives, officers located and seized illegal hemp flowers. During the inspections at the other businesses, minor infractions were addressed by the ABC Board.
As a result of the investigation, the following individuals were arrested:
Bradley Haddon, 40, from Opelika, AL, was charged with three (3) counts of the Sale or Possession of Unlawful Hemp Products.
Kayla Haddon, 39, from Opelika, AL, was charged with four (4) counts of the Sale or Possession of Unlawful Hemp Products.
