This past Saturday, The Reed Foundation held its 5th Annual Community Gala at The Valley Community Center. The evening kicked off with musical entertainment by Hasan Green while ladies and gentlemen walked the red carpet in their formal attire. Red carpet coverage was brought to you by April Ross and BeeTV while Narfunda Ross of 1033 Photography captured the night’s breathtaking images.
The festivities were attended by many local representatives, honorees, scholarship recipients as well as community supporters.
The guests were served a delicious meal while enjoying musical selections by Frankie & Friends.
The gala was hosted by Judge Paul Story who along with Cameron Reed (founder) and other board members presented this year’s Scholars and Helping Hands Honorees with scholarships and awards. Scholars included Caden Foreman of Valley High, Samantha Gray of Valley High, Jack Nelms of Chambers Academy , Braiden Patrick of Troup High, and RJ Tucker of Lanett High. A very special scholarship in memory of Cameron Reed’s grandfather was granted to Noah Harris. Each graduate spoke briefly on the the meaning of this honor and how they plan to make the most of their future endeavors in higher learning.
Commissioner Doug Jones, Penny Lee, Curtis Lewis, and Chris Clark were among those revered as Helping Hands Honorees. While accepting his honor, Chris Clark urged those who have experienced success to find a good cause within their community in which to be involved and pay it forward.
The presentations were concluded with a community prayer lead by Travis Porter of Bethlehem Baptist Church in West Point.
Dancing ensued to close a magical night of camaraderie and fellowship.
Founder, Cameron Reed, was thrilled and overwhelmed, saying that this year’s community gala was the best yet and looks forward to continuing this tradition for many years to come.
