Joanna Williams Newton, 88, died peacefully Sunday, May 10, 2026.
Born May 21, 1937, in Langdale, Alabama, she was the daughter of Braxton “Doc” B. Williams and Mary Askew Williams. An only child, Joanna grew up in Langdale and attended Valley High School.
Joanna was known for her fun-loving personality, sense of style, competitive spirit, and love of travel. She was a longtime member of Fairfax United Methodist Church and retired from the Chambers County School System, where she served for many years as secretary at Lafayette Lanier Elementary School.
Even later in life, Joanna never lost her playful spirit and loved entertaining her grandchildren by twirling batons and roller skating – reminders of the energy and charisma that remained throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, Billy Wayne Newton.
Survivors include her sons, Michael “Mike” Frazier (Patsy) of West Point, Georgia, and Dan “Danny” Frazier (Jeanne) of Racine, Wisconsin; grandchildren, David Frazier (Holly) of New York, New York, Mary (Jody) Frazier of La Crosse, Wisconsin, Stephanie (Melanie) Frazier of Winona Minnesota, Andrew (Katie) Frazier, Jaimeson Frazier of Madison, Wisconsin, Harrison Frazier, and Helena Frazier all of Racine, Wisconsin and a number of nieces and nephews.
She will be remembered for her vibrant spirit, enduring friendships, and deep love for her family.

The family will gather at the home of Mike and Patsy Frazier in West Point, Georgia.
Visitation will be held at the Johnson Brown Chapel in Valley, Thursday, May 14th 6-8 p.m. and the funeral will be held Friday, May 15th at 11 a.m. graveside at Johnson Memorial Gardens with eulogy by Danny Berry.
