Michael Craig Hornsby, 72, of Dadeville, Alabama, passed away on April 26, 2026. Known to those who loved him simply as Mike, he leaves behind a life well-lived and a community of friends and family whose lives are richer for having known him.

Mike was born and raised in Tuskegee, Alabama, the son of Houston Hornsby and Marjarie McEune Hornsby. The roots he put down in Alabama ran deep, and the values instilled in him during those early years shaped the man he would become.

For 34 years, Mike shared his life with his devoted wife, Paula — a partnership built on love, loyalty, and the kind of quiet, steady devotion that is rare and beautiful. She was his greatest companion, and together they built a life full of meaning and family.

Mike had a way of making people feel at home, and the warmth he brought into every room will not soon be forgotten. He was a friend who showed up, a man of character, and someone whose presence made ordinary moments feel special.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Houston and Marjarie Hornsby. He is survived by his beloved wife, Paula Hornsby; his three children, Shane Hornsby, Rusty Hornsby, and Marley Williams; five grandchildren, Jillian Hornsby, Rowan Hornsby, Houston Hornsby, Josey Hornsby, and Rayleigh Williams; his brother, Steve Hornsby and wife Noreen; and his sister, Sheila Godfrey and husband Tommy.

While the family will gather for a private service, they look forward to hosting a celebration of life for all of Mike’s friends and loved ones. Details for this larger gathering will be shared as soon as they are finalized.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Mike’s name to the animal rescue or shelter of your choice — a fitting tribute to a man with a generous heart.

Lake Martin Funeral Home and Cremation is honored to serve the family of Michael Craig Hornsby.
