September 24, 1948 ~ May 4, 2026 (age 77)

Ms. Linda Sue Cotton, age 77, of Valley, Alabama, passed away on Monday, May 4th, 2026, in Opelika, Alabama. She was born on September 24th, 1948, in West Point, Georgia to the late Mary and Tom Twilley.

Linda is survived by her children, Linda “Punkin” Lynd (David), James “Bubba” Cotton, and Thomas Cotton; her grandchildren, Sheridan and Coby Garsee, Gracie Adkins, Michelle Cotton, and Lawson, Caleb, and Emma Grace Lynd; her great-grandson, Kashton King; niece, Terri Sue Culpepper; nephew, Patrick Padgett.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Tom Twilley; sisters, Lucille Martin and Patricia Padgett.

Linda was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Valley. She was a great cook who was known for her biscuits. Linda never met anyone she didn’t greet with a wholehearted hug. Linda’s vibrant spirit was matched only by her love for Elvis, and we know she is now dancing to her favorite tunes in Heaven. Lord, please have those Sprites cold in that Frigidaire!

She loved her church and church family. She was smitten whenever she was around her family, and so proud of each one of them. Please share her pride and host family gatherings and celebrate milestones together.

Funeral services for Linda will be held on Friday, May 8th, 2026, at 11:00 AM (EDT) at Emmanuel Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. Dr. Darren White will officiate. Linda’s family will receive friends Thursday evening at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley from 6:00 until 8:00 PM (EDT).
