Ms. Gertha Ree “Tat” Rudd, 84 of Lanett, AL, passed away on Monday, March 30, 2026.
Public Visitation will be held on Friday, April 3, 2026, from 12:00 PM until 6:00 PM CST at Silmon-Seroyer Funeral Home Chapel in LaFayette, AL.
Ms. Rudd will lie in repose at the church one hour before the funeral service.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2026, 2:00 PM EST at O.H. Ministries in Lanett, AL, Bishop Bertha Hodge, Pastor, Bishop Donald Lancaster, Eulogist, Reverend Gary L. Dixon, Officiating.
Burial will follow in Mt. Zion AME Church Cemetery in Opelika, AL.
Ms. Rudd leaves to cherish her beautiful memories with her loving children: MacArthur (Patsy) Rudd, Francine Avery, and Anthony Rudd. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Dwayne (Tameka) Brooks, Torrance (Serena) Rudd, Demetrius (Whitney) Rudd, Chiquitta (Javier) Easter, and Jocelyn Rudd. She was also blessed with a host of great-grandchildren: Trinity Guice, Taysean Darden, Gabrielle, Andrew, Roman, Nolan, and Harlow Rudd, Marakus Brooks, B’yonna Toles, Tristan Toles, Ashanti Brooks, and Tamia Brooks, all of whom brought her immeasurable joy. She also leaves her beloved God granddaughters: Margaret “Cookie” Flack and Apostle Terri Raven. She is also survived by her siblings: Wheeler Ingram; Bobby D. (Kathy) Harper, who was her first cousin but lovingly raised and regarded as a brother; and Mary Ingram. She also leaves behind her nephews: Timothy Bailey, Steve Ingram, Marco Ingram, Iris Askew, Aaron Askew, Tocca Booker and Dezia Ingram; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family who loved her dearly. Gertha shared a special bond with her favorite niece, Tammy (Patrick) Floyd, and favorite nephew, Maurice (Tammy) Ingram. She also leaves behind her cherished extended family: Christine Jackson, Willie Bo (Dorothy) Dunn, Elijah (Gloria) Marshall, Murphy (Connie) Dunn, She was deeply loved by her devoted best friend, Annie Ruth Jackson, affectionately known as her “porch partner.” Her treasured “Golden Girls,” Jessie Bailey, Mary Hicks, and Angie Billingslea, shared in many of her joyful moments. Her close friends, affectionately known as her “Uber drivers,” Sonya “Heavy” Hudson, Cindy Frazier, Emma Morgan, and Rhonda Wilson, will forever hold her memory close. Gertha’s life was a testament to love in action. She gave freely, laughed often, and lived fully. She was a matriarch, a nurturer, a safe place, and a source of joy. Though she is no longer with us in the natural, her love will continue to live on in every life she touched. “Her table was always full, and so was her heart.”
