The Valley Rams Boys Varsity Basketball team extended their winning streak to 25 with a win 80-55 over rival LaFayette on Friday in front of a sold-out crowd. On Senior night for the dawgs, it was Valley who barked the loudest with their length, athleticism, and tenacious defense.
Valley head coach Marshon Harper liked the way his team looked as they get ready to wrap up the regular season.
“I was very proud of my guys and the way they played. We came out fast in an unbelievable atmosphere as we just came out and played ball. I told the players before coming out of the locker room to play like we are playing for the state title, and they came out and played”, said Harper.
The Rams held a commanding 51-25 going into halftime and continued that style of play in the second half.
“Everybody was just in sync with one another. We played team ball. We don’t need people to score 50. We just play within our system”, added Harper.
The Rams coach says that having six seniors helps his team stay focused and locked in.
“We have 6 seniors, 5 juniors, and one sophomore. They just mesh with one another, they love one another, and they have a special bond”, said Harper.
Up next for the Rams is a date with Lanett as they close out the regular season.
As for LaFayette, despite the loss Head Coach Chase Lewis likes where his team is headed and that there is a lot of basketball in front of his Dawgs.
The Bulldogs were in action at Trinity Presbyterian on Tuesday.
