We are sad to say that Robert (Bobby) Newton passed away at Summer Village, Camilla place on March 23, 2026. He was born on Feb 11, 1939, to Celia and Carl Newton.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Celia Newton, half-brothers Fred and Edwin Newton and brother, Joseph Newton.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Delores, sons Greg (Angela) Newton, Russell (Tracie) Newton and daughter Tara(Paul)Brumfield, 7 grandchildren, Haley Newton, Hunter (Kasi) Newton, Maggie (Beau) Pritchard, Max (Brooklyn) Newton, Heather (Brandon) Rogers, Daniel (Cassie) Brumfield , and Lacey Brumfield, 10 great grandchildren, Tanner, Turner, Timber, Tinley, Millie Beth, Clyde, Wells, Braxton, Jaxon, and Grayson, sisters Annette (Joseph) Hurd and Teresa Etherton. He was loved and will be missed by all.
Bobby attended Valley High School and after serving 2 years with the U S Army, was employed for a short time with West Point Pepperell and then was employed with Interstate/Valley Telephone Co. During this time, he received 2 associate degrees from Southern Union State Junior College, was a member of Fairfax Kiwanis Club and served as President for one year. Being an outdoorsman, he pursued employment with the Alabama State Conservation Department as a Conservation Officer and while being employed with them, he had the honor of being named Conservation Officer of the Year for the state of Alabama.
Bobby retired to continue being the proprietor of Newton Fur and Supply Co. which was started by his dad many years before. He later was employed and retired from Michelin/ Uniroyal. He also enjoyed cattle and hay farming during all this time.
We would like to extend our heart felt love and thanks to the staff and caretakers at Summer Village Camilla Place for the love and care that was given to him and also to the caretakers with Enhabit Hospice. We extend an invitation to friends and family to join us on April 11 from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM (EST) at 2233 Lee Road 266, Cusseta Alabama, 36852 for a celebration of life.
