Chambers Academy’s Bryce Modling drove in four runs on two hits, leading the Rebels to a 22-5 victory over Springwood in game two of a doubleheader. Modling’s performance included a triple in the second inning that scored two runs and a single that also contributed two runs.
The Rebels scored an impressive 13 runs in the second inning. In addition to Modling’s accomplishments, Sam Smith doubled, driving in two runs; Tucker Thrower tripled, adding one run; Hunter Andrews singled, scoring one run; and Landon Hand was hit by a pitch, which brought in another run. Modling’s second single in the inning scored two runs, while Eli Whorton, Smith, and Thrower each drew walks that resulted in additional runs.
Chambers Academy opened the scoring at the top of the first inning with two singles. The Rebels initially took the lead when Whorton singled, driving in a run. However, Springwood quickly turned the game around in the bottom of the first, scoring five runs on four hits to take a 5-2 lead, highlighted by an error that brought in two runs.
Chambers Academy regained momentum in the top of the third inning. Tripp O’Donnell started with a single to center field, followed by another single from Colton Fuller down the left field line. After Springwood committed an error, Thrower was hit by a pitch, leading to a run from a passed ball. Drew Sheppard and Aiden Yerta both walked, each contributing to the score with one run.
On the mound for Chambers, Cam Gooden allowed five hits and five runs (two earned) over three innings, with no strikeouts and two walks. Springwood’s Luke Moon pitched for one and two-thirds innings, giving up eight hits and 15 runs (six earned), along with two strikeouts and five walks.
The Rebels totaled 11 hits in the game, with Whorton, Thrower, and Modling each contributing two hits. O’Donnell led Chambers Academy with three walks, and the team demonstrated excellent plate discipline, drawing a total of 12 walks throughout the game.
Over the three-game series against Springwood, the Rebels have scored a remarkable 46 runs while allowing only 5 runs. For the Wildcats, Colton Jones, Russell Lauderdale, Tucker Sides, Wes Carden, and Tristan Hill each had one hit.
