LAFAYETTE- On Tuesday, Chambers Academy scored eight runs in the second inning, leading to a 12-0 victory over Springwood. The Rebels showcased a strong offense, with multiple players contributing to the scoring. Landon Hand had a single that brought in one run, Bryce Modling doubled to score one run, and Peyton Yerta also singled in one run. An error by the Wildcats led to another run for the Rebels. Sam Smith delivered a key performance with a single that scored two runs, while Hunter Andrews and Drew Sheppard both contributed with singles that brought in one run each.
The scoring began in the bottom of the first inning when Eli Whorton doubled, bringing in one run. Chambers Academy extended its lead in the third inning, as Yerta doubled to left field, followed by Colton Fuller’s single down the left field line, each adding another run to the scoreboard.
On the mound, Fuller started for Chambers Academy, giving up only two hits and no runs over three innings while striking out two and walking two. For Springwood, Russell Lauderdale took the hill but faced difficulties, allowing 10 hits and 12 runs (seven earned) over two innings, with three strikeouts and four walks.
Overall, the Rebels recorded 10 hits during the game, with Fuller and Yerta each collecting two hits. Smith, Fuller, and Yerta each drove in two runs. Hand stole two bases, contributing to a total of eight stolen bases for Chambers Academy. The team also executed two double plays in the field.
Bentley Hussey led the Wildcats with a solid performance, earning two hits in two at-bats.
The Rebels will look to continue their winning ways on Wednesday with a doubleheader against Springwood with a double dip. Meanwhile, the Wildcats will try to get back on track.
