On Friday, Southern Union State Community College held its annual Preview Day at the Valley Campus. Southern Union President Todd Shackett opened the event by welcoming students and emphasizing the college’s culture.

Following his introduction, Campus Director Robin Brown and faculty members Irene Tucker, Jay Haygens, and Jonathan Herston participated in the event. They discussed various programs, including advising, tutoring, the campus bookstore, Student Life, and a new initiative called T.H.I.E.V.E.

The event provided incoming students with essential information about being a Bison, covering topics from admissions and financial aid to dual enrollment and concurrent enrollment.

After the introduction of the Bison Way, new students were given a guided campus tour, which included one-on-one meetings with faculty and staff.

The Southern Union Preview Day concluded with the awarding of swag bags to Madison Pike and Genilee Atkins, along with a scholarship presentation to Valley High Senior Milagros Agustim.

Augustim shared with East Alabama News that she plans to study cosmetology at Southern Union.
