On Wednesday, the Chambers County School District honored staff for Black History Month at Chambers County School District Central Office in LaFayette.

“With gratitude, we recognize these former members of our CCSD family for their years of service to our students and community. We were honored to celebrate them at the Board meeting on February 18, 2026”, said the CCSD Board of Education in a social media post.

Those recognized included the following:

🔹Deborah Stringer — Para Professional, Fairfax & Westlake Forrest Booker Elementary (1979–2023) • 44 years

🔹Barbara Smith — Central Office Receptionist (1976–2016) • 40 years

🔹Inez Brooks — Teacher, Fairfax Elementary (1990–2016) • 26 years

🔹JoAnne Magby — Bookkeeper & Secretary, J. P. Powell (1997–2023) • 26 years

🔹Rosa Holloway — Bus Driver, CCBOE (1998–2024) • 26 years

🔹Lisa Askew‑Fleetion — Teacher & Counselor, Fairfax Elementary (1995–2020) • 25 years

🔹Tammy Darden — Bus Driver, CCBOE (2000–2024) • 25 years

🔹Fannie Edwards — Child Nutrition Program Worker, Eastside Elementary (1997–2021) • 22 years

🔹LaShae Herring — Teacher, LaFayette Lanier Elementary & Member, CCBOE Board (1990–2011) • 21 years; continuing service on the Board
