– Opelika Public Library is excited to host the third annual Opelika Book Festival February 26-28, 2026 at Opelika Public Library.

The festival will kick off Thursday night with a keynote by author Sarah Penner, followed by Writer’s Workshops on Friday, and an Author Fair on Saturday.

Author Sarah Penner will begin the weekend with an author talk and signing on February 26th at 6:30 PM at Opelika Public Library.

Sarah Penner is the New York Times and internationally bestselling author of The Lost Apothecary and The London Séance Society. Her books have been translated into more than forty languages and her debut, The Lost Apothecary, has sold over one million copies worldwide. Her newest book, The Amalfi Curse, contains powerful magic, a hunt for sunken treasure and forbidden love on the high seas.

On Friday, February 27th, we will host Writer’s Workshops with sessions perfect for anyone looking to sharpen their writing skills, share ideas, and have fun. They will include sessions by Sarah Penner, Rachel Hawkins, and panels of local booksellers and authors.

To conclude the festival, our Author Fair will be on Saturday, February 28th from 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM. At the Author Fair, you’ll have the chance to meet and engage with 44 local authors, including traditional and self-published writers, mystery authors, educators, illustrators, and creators of both fiction and nonfiction. Browse books, hear the stories behind the pages, and connect directly with the people who bring them to life.

“As a public library, we see everyday how books create connections. The Opelika Book Festival allows us to celebrate reading, and the writers who make that possible, in a big, joyful way.

I am thankful to the committee for the work they have put in to make the 3rd Annual OBF happen and I hope everyone can find a way to participate and enjoy the festival,”, says Rosanna McGinnis, Library Director.

The Opelika Book Festival celebrates writers and readers and cultivates a literary cultural atmosphere in the community. The festival highlights the importance of literature in the community and develops original programming that is fun, smart, inclusive, collaborative, and presents free and low-cost events.
