June 29, 1938 ~ February 7, 2026 (age 87)

Mrs. Peggy Bartlett Wood, 87, of Lanett, Alabama, passed away on February 7, 2026, in Dacula, Georgia. She was born on June 29, 1938, in Roanoke, Alabama, to the late Homer E. Bartlett, Sr., and Nellie Tidwell Bartlett.

Peggy is survived by her son, Bart, and her daughter, Rhonda; grandchildren Christi Heys, Jennifer Wells, Cameron Barker, and Jordan Barker; and great-grandchildren Sam Heys, Ryan Heys, Wyatt Wells, and Lilly Wells.

Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Malcolm Richard Wood; her brothers, Homer, Bill, and Marty Bartlett; and sisters Betty Faulkner and Jane Cason. Peggy was married to Malcolm Richard Wood for almost 58 years. They met while attending Lanett High School and spent the next almost six decades raising their children and moving around the country.

Her biggest passion was her family. She was a wonderful cook, loved music (50’s and Hymns), numbers, and football.

She was adventurous when she moved to each new city, and she could make a new friend in a minute. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 13, 2026, with Family Visitation at 10:00 AM (EST) at Johnson Brown Funeral Home in Valley, Alabama, and Graveside Service will be held at Hillcrest Garden Cemetery at 11:00 A.M. (EST) with Reverend Nick Hatcher will officiate.
