In the early morning hours of Monday, September 9th, 2024, Lanett Police responded to a shooting in West Shawmut. Lanett Police issued the following press release regarding the incident.
“On 09/09/2024 at 1:43 am Eastern Time, the Lanett Police Department was dispatched to the 1600 block of 21st Street SW in Lanett, AL in reference to an adult male who had sustained a gunshot wound to the chest. Upon arrival, the victim was identified as Terrence Jeffery of Lanett, AL. Mr. Jeffery was transported to East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika where he later succumbed to his injuries”, said Lanett PD.
