For the first time in 25 years, Troup has 3 State Champions! Freshman 106lb Javen Russo, who absolutely dominated not only his finals match but his first high school season.
Junior 120lb Jonderious Williams is our new (2x) back-to-back champion which is a huge accomplishment alone. Junior 265lb Zane Taliaferro with an epic comeback in the finals to earn his well deserved title.
Troup also had 4 wrestlers also make it to the podium- State Runner up – Preston Strickland with a hard fought finals match. Noah King fought back through consolation placing 3rd along with Hank Muhr placing 4th and Braylon Smith placing 6th! Carson Vaillant, just returning from injury took a tough loss in the blood rounds as well as Anthony Swanson after battling tough in their 5th matches of the day. Kam Huzzie also showed great determination and grit in a tough bracket. Troup also took home 2nd place in total overall points behind Jefferson. Huge accomplishments by all of our wrestlers and coaches!
